The Dimensions of Diversity Book Club for Parents and Caregivers
This club has evolved out of our effort to explore and learn more about the various dimensions of diversity through literature. Discussions will be hosted by Dr. Seria Chatters, the district’s director of equity and inclusivity.
While this club is specifically for SCASD parents and guardians, we also have a book club for faculty and staff, and other opportunities for the community will be available in the future.
To participate in the club, please sign up using this link: https://goo.gl/forms/mXichxyqxlJc7BL92
The book we are discussing is "Why Are All of the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?" by Beverly Tatum. To learn more about the book, visit the publisher’s website or watch the author discuss an excerpt here. Also, you can purchase the book from Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
We will be hosting two opportunities to meet and discuss each book. There will be a noon and evening book club meeting. The remaining dates and locations are below:
Evening Book Club meetings - 6:30-8:00pm at Mount Nittany Middle School Library
Noon Book Club meeting at Panorama Village - 12:00-1:30pm
