The 2018-19 State College High School STEM Team, above, consists of (L to R): Emma Simon, Ben Servey, Owen Sweeny, Roshan Haque and Larry Li.
This year's project is a thermo-electric composter, a device deisgned to generate electricity from the heat produced as a by-product of the decomposition of plant and vegetable food waste. The project aims to enable localized solutions to both reduce landfill waste and develop a green and environmentally friendly method of electricity production.
The team was successful at the Regional Competition where they garnered a First Place finish. They will go on to represent State College High School and CIU 10 at the State Competition in Harrisburg on May 9th and 10th.
