I am very happy to be teaching STEM again this year at Spring Creek and Ferguson Township Elementary Schools. The 2019-20 school year will be my sixth year working in the State College Area School District. As a second-year STEM teacher, I get most excited about integrating technology into my teaching, guiding students through engineering design challenges, and connecting STEM principles to great picturebooks!
I grew up in Wisconsin, went to college in Minnesota, and before moving to Pennsylvania five years ago, my husband and I lived in Minnesota, New York, Florida, Colorado and Illinois. In Illinois, we spent four years living in the heart of Chicago (Go Cubs!), where I worked as museum educator and staff trainer for Chicago Children's Museum, followed by nine years in Peoria, where I worked as an adjunct professor at Bradley University while focusing on raising three young children. I returned to school in 2012, earning a Masters of Library Science from University of Illinois and my teaching certification from University of Pittsburgh and Penn State.
Outside of school, I can typically be found driving my now high school and middle school age children around to their many activities, coordinating family logistics with my husband, or attending local music and theatre performances.
My schedule:
Spring Creek Elementary -- Days 1, 2, 3 (afternoons), 4
Ferguson Township Elementary -- Days 3 (mornings), 5
