    Hi everyone,
Last week was a very successful week that included two team wins at our meet on Tuesday and a great track workout on Friday morning.
Tuesday's Meet at Central Dauphin East
On Tuesday the team traveled to CDE high school to compete against CDE and also Carlisle. A handful of girls had raced at this location before but the newly mapped route was brand new to everyone.
Everyone handled the new route well as there were many prs and the girls handily beat both CDE and Carlisle. And with that we closed out our Mid-Penn Commonwealth division with a 4-2 record. Great work to everyone!
    Results are attached below.

    Hi everyone,
We closed out another activity filled week. It was filled with recovery from the challenging Foundation Meet last Saturday, a speed workout on Tuesday, the homecoming parade, and a big meet yesterday at Lehigh University.
The season is really flying by as next week we look ahead to the start of our Championship meets of Mid-Penn on the 16th, Districts on the 30th, and the PIAA State Meet on the 6th.
And for your planning, everyone is eligible to race at the Mid-Penn Championships and the District Championships, both have  a Varsity and a JV race. The PIAA State Meet will only be the top 7 racing, with one official alternate, and one unofficial alternate.
The team did an amazing job representing girls SCXC at the homecoming parade on Thursday after practice. The impressive costumes, float, and team spirit on display made it such a special celebration that we'll all remember for years to come. Thank you to everyone who helped and supported along the way!
And the next morning we had ten girls travel out to Lehigh University for the Paul Short Invitational. This was our first time back at this venue in ten years. It was a great opportunity for the girls to get in some big meet experience on a fast course. While we may have been a touch tired from the festivities the night before and the three hour drive, everyone set a PR and the team had a top ten finish of seventh out of 33 teams. And leading the team was Marlee Kwasnica, placing in the top 20 with a 13th overall finish in a time of 18:46.
For complete results see link below. Our race was the high school Brown Race.

There will not be a return bus back to the high school.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and we're excited for another big week ahead of us!
    Hi everyone,
We had two very successful meets last week.
On Tuesday we traveled to Reedsville and faced Mifflin County and Central Dauphin. It was the same course as the Big Valley Invitational so the ladies were happy to be on a familiar course and be able to preview it one more time before we're there for the District VI Championships.
We had great weather for the meet, everyone ran strong, and the ladies came away with the double win.
    See attached results.
Yesterday at the PIAA Foundation Meet at the Hershey Parkview Cross Country Course in Hershey, the ladies successfully conquered the hilly course as they faced some top notch competition. All but three of our seventeen who raced had never raced on the course before so it was a really good opportunity to preview the challenging state meet course.
In the Varsity Gold (AAA) race, the ladies placed 3rd out of 34 teams, easily surpassing the 9th place virtual prediction on MileSplit. Marlee Kwasnica paced the team as she placed 16th overall and earned a top 20 medal.
And in the JV race, the ladies placed 5th overall, with Alex Antoniono and Devyani Wadhia both earning top 20 PIAA certificates.
    Great work everyone!
Results can be found at the link below.
We will have a regular practice after school but will make sure to get things wrapped up early enough for everyone to get ready.
Pizza will be provided for the team before the parade.
The parade will start at 6PM.
Coaches will be walking the parade route with the team to supervise.
After we arrive at Memorial Field the girls can either stay for the pep rally or start making their way back to the high school on foot or they may arrange to be picked up.
Coaches will be walking back directly after we arrive at Memorial Field. Anyone who would like to join us may do so. It's about a 10 minute walk.
This is a limited entry meet.
Each school is only allowed to enter 10 athletes.
Early dismissal from school will be at 10:30.
The vans will depart from the north building/Delta at 11:00.
The girls will want to pack some lunch food for the trip.
The drive will be about three hours so we will make a quick stop on the way.
The girls Brown race will start at 4:00.
Snacks and drinks will be provided for the trip.
We will have a meal stop on the return trip so the girls should bring money for that or pack their own meals.
Estimated return back to State High is between 8:30 and 9pm.
As always, let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the parade and or at Lehigh!

    Hi everyone,
Thank you all for adjusting your plans last minute for last Tuesday's postponed meet. We were really looking forward to a great dual with Carlisle on our home course. We will now face Carlisle along with Central Dauphin East at CDE's course on October 5th. Unfortunately that means we will only have one home meet this year on Monday October 11th.
With the meet being cancelled, we were happy to get a solid week of training in this past week. The girls were able to preview our home course on Monday, get in a hill session on Tuesday and end the week with an impressive workout at the track yesterday morning. We were very pleased with how many girls attended yesterday and also with the effort and enthusiasm everyone brought.
We have two meets for the week ahead. Below you'll find the info. for each.
TUESDAY'S DUAL MEET WITH MIFFLIN COUNTY, 9/21 (Big Valley Course at Indian Valley Elementary school in Reedsville)
Please let me know if you can not go to the meet as soon as possible. Everyone is eligible to run.
    2:30 early dismissal from classes
3:00 bus departs from north building/Delta
5:00 girls race, 4:30 boys race
No meal stop on the return trip but snacks and drinks will be provided.
SATURDAY'S MEET AT HERSHEY, 9/25 (Hershey Parkview Cross Country Course across from Giant Center)
Top 17 will travel.  Please let me know as soon as possible if you can not go. I need to have final entries submitted by noon on Sunday, (today).
7:00 AM, bus departs from north building/Delta, please arrive by 6:50.
10:30 Girls Varsity Race (top 7)
1:30 Girls JV Race, (next 10 on team)
PIAA t-shirts and gear will be sold at the meet.
Snacks and drinks will be provided for before and after the meet.
We will have a meal stop on the return trip, probably Panera, so the ladies should plan to bring money for that or pack their own meal.
We will eat outside in the parking lot.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
    Take care,
    Chambersburg Meet:
On Tuesday, the ladies did a great job at the Chambersburg and Cumberland Valley tri-meet at the Falling Spring XC course in Chambersburg. It was a very challenging course but everyone showed grit and determination as they conquered it.
    Great work to everyone!
Attached are results for the meet.
    Spiked Shoe Meet:
And on Friday, the ladies ran at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational at the PSU golf course. It was a very exciting race with some top notch competition, including out of state teams, Ursuline from Delaware, and University from West Virginia.
The ladies ran smart, competed hard, and were able to really attack the climbs of the final mile, better than any other team in the field. This resulted in defending their team title from 2019, the last time the meet was contested.
A little info. on who the meet is named after:
Did you know that Harry Groves was the legendary, long time coach of the men's track and field & cross country team at PSU? And he was coach Artie's coach when he was on the team back in the day. Sadly, coach Groves passed away in February of 2020. I know it meant a lot to Artie to coach the winning team at the meet that's named after his beloved coach.
    Home Course Preview, Monday, 9/13:
The team will take a shuttle bus during practice to Circleville Park.
The ladies will have a pre meet practice here while previewing the course for Tuesday's meet.
If anyone would like to be picked up from Circleville Park, they may do so. We just ask that rides arrive between 5:30 and 5:45 so we can arrive back to the high school by 6:00.
Home Meet with Carlisle this Tuesday, 9/14:
We will face Carlisle at our home course at Circleville Park in State College. Directions to our course and a course map can be found on our team website on the scasd athletics page.
Early dismissal will be at 2:45 with the bus departing from the north building/Delta at 3:15.
The girls race will start at 5:00, the boys race will start at 4:30
There will be a bus returning to the high school north building at the conclusion of the meet.
Snacks, water, and Gatorade will be provided for before and after the meet.
    Practice on Saturday 9/18:
We do not have a meet this weekend but we do plan to hold a morning practice on Saturday. :)
    Exact time and location TBA.
Looking forward to a great week ahead!
I have to start with a huge THANK YOU!! to everyone who braved the elements yesterday at Beaver Stadium for our seatback fundraiser. We had a really strong turnout which resulted in a whole lot of seats being installed. We won't know the exact number installed and money earned until PSU gets back to the booster club on that figure but whatever it ends up being I'm really proud of what we accomplished out there.
Last week was a tough week for the girls with the start of school coupled with the heat and humidity every day. Everyone handled it well by being smart about hydration and adjusting pace and distances to be safe. Luckily the week ahead looks to be a little cooler and the girls should be settled into a routine at school a bit more.
And, as we update our team page, here is a link to our fall racing schedule:
The PIAA State Meet does not appear on this schedule but it will be on 11/6.
Bus departure times will be updated on the team page as well.
    Thank you for your patience.
Below you'll find some important info. for the week ahead and a bit on the following week for planning purposes.
We will distribute uniforms to the whole team this week.
Everyone will receive a racing singlet/tank top and a pair of racing shorts as well as a warm up jacket and pants.
