The Center for Equity and Global Leadership at State High (The Center)
The Center for Equity and Global Leadership aims to provide a welcoming space in which members of the State College Area School District and the greater community can experience an open, safer, and inclusive environment. The Center aims to honor all dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to, race, sexual orientation, gender, disability, immigration status; and promoting the development of a community of global citizens. Through educational, social, and supportive programming, The Center aims to provide mechanisms to promote and foster collaboration, communication, conversation, and connection to the greater Centre County and Global community.
Through a framework centered in social justice, the Center for Equity and Global Leadership at SCAHS seeks to empower and support individuals as they navigate diverse identities. Using a holistic approach to student, faculty, and staff development, exploring the intersections of identities, and honoring the experiences of historically marginalized communities, we strive to provide resources, advocacy, outreach; a global education; and civil engagement.
We aim to fulfill our vision and mission through the promotion, development, and support of programming, activities, events, and school and community groups that foster:
- Identity Development
- Global Citizenship
- Social Justice Initiatives
- Cultural Enrichment
- Scholarly Initiatives & Cultural Education Program
The Center displays flags in recognition of the need to provide visible support and representation of historically marginalized groups in our school. For more details on the flags, please read this memo.
