• Champs Camp is out of this world 2021  

     

    Summer 2021 Champs Camp is back and In-Person (or remote/asynchronous)!

    The Department of Federal Programs invites eligible students to apply for Champs Camp this summer. Champs Camp is a intervention and support summer school option to help encourage on-track learning for students after the regular school year as ended. Given the many challenges of COVID-19, our department will offer several options for programming this summer. Please note, at this time, space is limited to eligible students and their families only.     In early April, eligible students will receieve an invitation from our Camp Adminstration. If you feel you received the e-mail in error or should have recieved an invitaition, please contact your child's building and/or case manager for inquries. 

    This year, we will be serving students' needs in ELA (reading and writing) and Math. 

    In-person Camp will run from June 21-July 29, 2021 at Corl St. Elementary. Classes will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 1:00 pm daily.

    Please note, given the Health and Safety Plan, seats are limited. We will continue to monitor our numbers and availability to serve students. Your application will be reviewed following your submission. Our office will confirm your application if accepted or add your child to the waitlist. It is expected that students attend all of camp.

    Programming

    In person - K-5 students will receive individualized schedules based on their needs in ELA and/or math. Other parts of the day are supplemented with counseling lessons, book exchange (pending Health and Safety Plan), engaging stem lessons and other engaging experiences.

    Remote/Asynchronous - K-5 students will receive weekly digital activities in ELA and/or math. A teacher will be available to schedule small group and/or individual remote sessions if needed. 

    ESL - K-5 students in need of ESL support services will receive supplemental services in addition to the ELA and/or Math support. 

    Transportation

    Neighborhood transportation (pick up and drop off) is available at no cost to families. Families may also provide their own transportation.

    A limited number of spaces are available for an early drop off option for working families. More information is listed in the application

     

    Champs Camp Extended Day Registration is being hosted by SCASD Community Education. Students will be transported by bus to MNE from CS at the conclusion of CHAMPS. Parents must pick-up from MNE by 5:30 p.m. each day. Students may also attend the Extended Day program on Fridays from 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., parent transport required. The cost is $600 for the six-week program. Families must enroll in the full six-week program. Scholarships are available for families who qualify for free or reduced lunch.     To apply for CHAMPS Camp, please visit our digital application form. A paper copy is also attached if you are unable to complete online. Please send all paper applications to your child’s school. The school will forward all paper applications to our Champs Camp Office.
