• This course is designed for students of varied language arts abilities and is one in which everyone can make progress and feel successful.  The course is designed with the following theme at its heart — Adversity and Diversity: Adding My Voice to the Conversation.   The emphasis in this course is on developing critical thinking skills through the analysis of a variety of literary genres, with emphasis on classic and contemporary literature, including graphic novels.  Students will read both whole class and choice novels.  We will make use of previously learned concepts and skills, such as rhetorical strategies and use of the Toulmin model for developing strong arguments
