Course Content and Techniques:
This class will give a general survey of musical theatre history. As students study the evolution of this art form, they will explore American history through the decades. They will watch and reflect on groundbreaking shows, learn the form of a musical and the function of songs. Students will also learn and perform songs from musicals. This class is perfect for a student who loves to sing and dance. It also serves as a great introduction to drama for students who are interested in musical theatre, but not quite sure they want to participate.
Objectives:
Students will leave this class with a basic knowledge of musical theatre history, comfortability singing with others, and be able to perform a production number. Students will present a musical to the class.
