• Meet Mrs. Baney!

I am thrilled to be the school counselor at Spring Creek Elementary for the second year! I can’t wait to get the year started and continue to work with our awesome students and families in this community. Prior to working at Spring Creek, I worked at several different schools as an elementary, middle and high school counselor (although elementary is definitely my favorite age!). I graduated from Indiana University of PA with a Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Educational Psychology and then went to Penn State University to obtain my Master’s degree in Counselor Education, specializing in Elementary School Counseling. I am also continuing my education and working on a graduate certificate in Restorative Practices from the International Institute for Restorative Practices.

My husband and I were both born and raised in State College and graduates of State College Area High School. After moving around for several years for my husband's job in collegiate athletics, we have finally settled down in State College and are looking forward to raising our daughter near both of our families. In addition to our daughter, we also have a beloved fur baby named Duke.

On most weekends, you can find us hiking, camping or exploring the outdoors. However, in the fall, you will find us at Memorial Field on Friday nights and Beaver Stadium on Saturdays. My husband is a coach for State College Football and we are avid PSU football fans. In addition to football and outdoor activities, we love all things Disney!

One of my favorite parts of my job is that I get to work with all the students at Spring Creek. Oftentimes, students will just pop into my office to say hi or stop me in the hallway to tell me something cool that they did over the weekend. In addition, sometimes kiddos request to eat lunch with me just for fun; if I have room in my schedule I will always do my best to accommodate their request! Therefore, please don’t be alarmed or worried if your student comes home and says that they spoke with the counselor. If there is ever any concern about their social, emotional or mental health, I will always reach out to you on that same day. Please feel free to reach out to see how we can best work together to help promote our students' success and help them be their best selves!
