How to Support Facilities in the State College Area School District

Gift Acceptance Guidelines for Facilities Support

All donations supporting construction or renovation of a facility or a component thereof will go into the district's construction fund to defray expenditures and to ease the burden on the taxpayers.

Consideration for an immediate naming opportunity requires a minimum 50% of comprehensive construction cost at the current value, adjusted to reflect visibility, attractiveness, etc.

Consideration for a naming opportunity through a deferred gift, requires minimum 75% of comprehensive construction cost at the current value, adjusted to reflect visibility, attractiveness, etc. If bequest is under value at time of estate settlement, family will have first right of refusal.

If planned major renovations or overhaul of a facility is known at the time of naming, the anticipated renovation costs will be factored into the minimum necessary for the naming opportunity. In the case of major renovations not planned at the time of naming, new naming opportunities will be created without infringing on the original name.

The agreement to recognize an eligible gift with the naming of a facility will be announced upon the donor's binding commitment to the gift. The actual naming will occur upon receipt of the first installment.

Facilities named after individuals will carry that name for the life of the facility. Naming opportunities for businesses and organizations will be for a term of up to 20 years, after which the original donor will have first right of refusal.

Donations supporting construction or renovation of a facility that fall below the 50% minimum established for naming considerations will receive onsite plaque recognition.
