Volunteering is BIG in this town - we are all asked to volunteer for numerous clubs and charities. So, one might wonder whether volunteering with a school PTO should be at the top of the list.  Schools need many things to be a cohesive yet dynamic whole: qualified and caring teachers, strong and dedicated leadership, a well-equipped and safe physical environment, eager and stimulated learners and involved, in-touch parents.

Now, that all sounds pretty serious. And some of our work is - we take our responsibility of funding field trips, producing a yearly S.L.A.M. Fair, offering teacher grants, etc., very seriously. But, we also have a lot of FUN. Many of the activities that we plan are dedicated to just that; and it is at the Fun Run, Basket Bingo, Penn Skates nights, or tubing at Tussey that we know PFE is more than a school - we are a community.

To ensure the safety of our community, Pennsylvania Act 15 requires that adults (those 18 years of age or older) having direct volunteer contact with children will need background check clearances. If you haven't already gone through the volunteer clearances, please do so today! We love and really, really need parent volunteers to make our efforts successful. The process takes 20 minutes, then you'll have to drop the forms in the mail. Please and thank you!
Now, check out Membership Toolkit for current signups to help out. Stop by a PTO meeting to listen, to share, to volunteer. Or just attend some of the PTO organized events. We want to make PFE the best it can be - and we need YOUR help!
