In 2010, I was the recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. I won the award for elementary mathematics for the state of Pennsylvania. This is a picture of me on Capitol Hill during my trip to Washington, D.C. in the spring of 2011.
Getting to Know
I am very excited to be a part of the faculty at Easterly Parkway Elementary and Radio Park Elementary! I have taught at Mount Nittany Middle School, Park Forest Elementary, and Easterly Parkway Elementary. Before becoming an elementary school teacher, I was a secretary at Houserville Elementary for ten years. As I watched the teachers work with the children there, I was inspired to go back to college to earn my teaching degree at Penn State University.Working with students, teachers, and parents is a wonderful way to spend each day. Each time I walk into a classroom, I am not only a teacher, but also a learner. We can all learn from each other as we strive to provide the best learning experiences for the children in the State College Area School District. When I'm not at school, I enjoy relaxing at home with my husband and our dog, Casey. Casey is a yellow lab/Chesapeake Bay retriever mix, so she is full of energy! We like to play frisbee with Casey, and I enjoy taking her for long walks near our house. In addition to playing with the dog, I love to work in my flower and vegetable gardens, and I am an avid reader.her favorite game - frisbee!!
