• Force Quit an Application

Posted by PATRICIA YOST on 10/6/2007 11:00:00 PM

When an application stalls while you are working in it:
    1. First, be patient.
    2. After patience, if you need to Force Quit, open the Force Quit window.
    3. Apple-Option-Escape
    4. Select the application that is stalled, and click Force Quit.
    5. Then re-launch the application.
Force Quit fixes most cases of a stalled application. Almost NEVER is a restart of the computer required.

  • Manage Files and Folders in Neon2K

Posted by PATRICIA YOST on 10/6/2007 10:00:00 PM

It's a good idea to organize related files in Neon2K into folders. To create folders and organize files:
    1. Make sure you are working inside your Neon2K folder.
    2. From the File menu, select New Folder.
    3. Click the word untitled, and name the folder appropriate to the items it will hold.
    4. Drag related files into the folder.
    5. Repeat steps 2-4 for additional folders.
    6. Suggestion: Many students have a folder for English, Math, Science, etc.
    7. At the end of the school year, you can gather folders together into one folder and name it 6th grade, 7th grade, etc.
To delete items from your Neon2k folder, drag them to the desktop trash.

  • Access Neon2K from Home

Posted by PATRICIA YOST on 6/30/2007 7:00:00 PM

You may access Neon2K from your home computer. Here is how:

    On a Macintosh:
    1. Select "Connect to Server" from the Go menu in Finder.
    2. In the Server Address box, type neon2k.scasd.org
    3. Click Connect
    4. Log in
    On a PC:
    1. Use Internet Explorer or FireFox.
    2. Go to http://myfiles.scasd.org (Do NOT type www)
    3. Log in
    4. Click the filename to download the file to your computer. Work on it and then upload it back to neon2k by clicking the UP ARROW at the top of the screen.
NOTE: Whether using a Macintosh or a PC, if you do not have the software on your home computer that was used to create the file, you will not be able to work on it at home. For example, if you used PowerPoint at school to create a project, but you do not have PowerPoint on your home computer, you will not be able to work on your project at home, even though you are able to download it from neon2k.
