Information about MyON

“Renaissance myON® Reader is a student-centered, personalized literacy environment that gives students access to more than 6,000 enhanced digital books. Titles are dynamically matched to each individual student’s interests, grade and Lexile® reading level. Combined with a suite of close reading tools and embedded supports, myON Reader fosters student engagement and achievement.”

We are pleased to also provide SCASD Elementary students with myON News.

“Renaissance myON® News, powered by News-o-Matic, delivers age-appropriate digital news articles for students, reporting on timely topics and current events. Articles incorporate engaging multimedia – videos, slideshows and photo galleries – to help students better understand the news. Subjects cover everything from space science and endangered species to football and fashion, engaging even the most reluctant reader.”

Given these powerful tools are accessible by students outside the school day, we are providing several training webinars for family members again this summer. The chart below provides several options for family members to learn more about myON and how it can be used to support reading at home.

Review session dates and times and to RSVP. A link will be sent prior to the training.

Important Information

If you want to access myON prior to the webinar here are some additional pieces of information that you need to know about your students first login session:

  • Interest Inventory: Students will be asked to rate each category on the page, by choosing the face that shows how interested they are in that category. When they finish, select Save.
  • Placement Test: Students will be asked a series of questions that adapt to your students’ level. This will determine the books that are recommended. This could take up to 35 minutes to complete. They do not need to finish in 1 sitting. It will pick up where they left off the on the next log in. Encourage your students to give this test their best effort letting them know they may see questions they do not know the answers to and that is ok.

These training sessions for elementary families will all be similar so you are welcome to attend just one or multiple.
