Solar Power Purchasing Agreement Working Group
Solar Power Purchasing Agreement Working Group
In the fall of 2019, the State College Area School District has begun looking into the possibility of entering into a solar power purchasing agreement with municipalities and authorities within Centre County. SCASD is investigating this method of purchasing power because solar power is environmentally friendly and could potentially be a cheaper source of energy. As the largest purchaser of electricity in the group, the district agreed to coordinate the release of a request for qualifications in order to engage with an energy consultant to assist with the process. The request for qualifications was released on September 13, 2022. The document is located under the district's Bidding and Proposal Opportunities.
On Dec. 5, 2019, the Board Facilities and Grounds Committee received this update regarding the solar power purchasing agreement.
On Nov. 1, 2019, the Board of Directors received this update from the solar power working group.
On Jan. 17, 2024, SCASD Board Member Peter Buck and Pam Adams, the Sustainability Planner for the Centre Region Council of Governments, gave a presentation on the Centre Region Solar Power Purchase Agreement.
