What is the V.I.P.S Tutoring Center?
The VIPS program provides students in the State College Area School District, grades K-12, with no-cost tutoring. The program benefits all members of the SCASD community through a collaborative approach that encourages responsibility, builds self-esteem, and improves learning skills.
Where is the Tutoring Center located?
The VIPS Tutoring Center will be held at the State College Area High School.
What are the hours?
The Tutoring Center is open every Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., except on inservice days and school closures or when otherwise indicated. Tutors and times are assigned in advance, this is not a drop-in service. Once the supervisor has identified a tutor that will match your student's needs, you will receive an email with more information.
Who are the tutors?
The vast majority of our tutors are PSU students. We sometimes also have local community members, current and retired teachers who wish to volunteer their time and services.
Our volunteers offer assistance in the following subject areas:
Math, English, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Languages, English as a Second Language, and Elementary Studies.
Any questions can be directed towards the VIPS Supervisor.
