State High students a part of leadership groups such as Black Affinity Group and LGBTQAI+ attended a college tour with our college partners Lock Haven University. These students who are ranged from 10-11th grade were able to look at dorm life, get information on policy and procedure in a university setting while also getting information from admissions on how to apply to college, student grants and loans and majors/minors that incorporated their interest.

On Janaury, 29th 2025, five State High student leaders as well as the Director of the Equity Department, Tonya Black along with the Equity Liaison Aaron Moon attended the State College Borough’s, National Day of Racial Healing event actively engaged in conversations, addressing barriers that hinder genuine connections in our diverse community. Their thought-provoking discussions with community members shed light on various obstacles impeding meaningful connections, demonstrating their commitment to fostering positive change. Rooted in their diverse personal experiences and their vision of future leadership, the students' perspectives were deeply appreciated by the community. As aspiring leaders, their voices resonated profoundly, providing a fresh and insightful take on breaking down barriers and building bridges in our society. The School District takes pride in the pivotal role these students played, fostering unity and understanding among the community and marking a significant step towards a more connected and inclusive State College. The District extends heartfelt gratitude to these five students; (Left to Right) Tristan Rogers, Cheyla Ramirez Crawford, Maame Yeboah, Angel Henward and Grace Yang, for their exemplary participation and looks forward to their continued contributions towards shaping a more united community.

Delta Middle and High School recently hosted a panel on February 8th, 2024, providing students with valuable insights into the diverse experiences of individuals with disabilities. The conversation, organized by members of the Delta No Place For Hate group, focused on dispelling stereotypes while emphasizing the joy and resilience present in the lives of those with disabilities. The event not only addressed the challenges individuals face in school and work systems but also ignited a call to action for a more inclusive community. The panel discussion provided a platform for exploring the needs and aspirations of individuals with disabilities, emphasizing the importance of fostering spaces that empower their independence. By amplifying marginalized voices, the Delta No Place for Hate group inspires our commitment to achieving genuine inclusivity, encouraging empathy and creating environments where everyone, regardless of ability, can thrive.

The Cultural Celebrations Club, along with the Asian Americans Pacific-Islanders Affinity group at State High, showcased their commitment to inclusivity by organizing a Lunar New Year celebration event on February 9th, 2024. This student-led initiative not only exhibited an array of enticing traditional foods and beautiful decorations, but also featured creative and engaging activities that brought joy and connection to State High students. Beyond being just a lively gathering, the event provided a welcoming space for our diverse student body to explore and appreciate the rich cultural traditions associated with Lunar New Year. The efforts of the Cultural Celebrations Club have undoubtedly contributed to creating a more connected and understanding school community, where diversity is celebrated, and everyone feels a sense of belonging.
