Helping Hands Pantry/Donations
Helping Hands Pantry

Hygiene, Household, School Supplies
The mission of the Helping Hands Pantry is to eliminate barriers connecting families with resources and removing the stigma of using the food bank.
The pantry is a two-part pantry that is stocked thanks to our generous community donations and the State College Food Bank. One half consists of personal hygiene items, household products, and school supplies. The other half of the pantry is food, donated to the district by the food bank.
The Helping Hands Pantry collaborates with numerous organizations, school buildings and individuals. These items are donated either through events, drop-offs or through the supply registries.
A few of our fellow partnerships are SCASD Foundation, local church organizations, Centre Safe, Housing Transitions, Penn State philanthropies, and individual SCASD school buildings.
If interested in receiving assistance from the pantry, please fill out the Needs Assessment form.
Donations
We have many members of the SCASD community reaching out asking about ways that they can help support SCASD students and families in need. We greatly appreciate the generosity of our community and want to share some ways that you can help.
Three ways you can help SCASD students, families and staff:
- Registries (Target and Amazon)
- Monetary donations directly to the Helping Hands Pantry
- The SCASD Foundation - Mental Health Matters Fund
Registries
There are two active registries - Target Registry and Amazon Registry
Monetary Donations
Monetary donations will be used for hygiene items, household products, school supplies, and other house and apartment items.
Checks may be made out to SCASD Student Services and make sure to include "Helping Hands Pantry" in the memo line of your check.
SCASD Foundation- Mental Health Matters Fund
In partnership with the SCASD Education Foundation, emergency funds for local families will be collected through the existing Mental Health Matters Fund, then distributed through the District following a needs assessment submission. Donations will be used for expanded mental health support, basic needs, and other needs unique to this situation.
Give online by selecting the Mental Health Matters Fund from the “Select Campaign” dropdown, or by mailing a check to:
