We believe that good nutrition is a key to learning. Our mission is to provide high quality, healthy school meals that support student growth and learning.
Federal nutrition standards ensure that school meals are well-balanced and provide students with all the nutrition they need to succeed. The meals served in our schools include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, low-fat milk, and whole grains. And we take quality seriously. We cook from scratch and use "whole" foods as often as possible. The staff of the State College Area School District Food Service Department work hard to make sure that healthy and delicious meals can be a part of your student's day. Now is a great time to encourage your kids to choose school meals!

Elemenatry School Picnics will take place May 18-22
Parents/guardians and pre-school aged siblings are invited to a picnic to celebrate the end of the school year. If you would like to join your child for lunch, follow this link to register for the school picnic. Picnic reservations must be received by May 8.
Coming this Summer - Free Meals for All at Oak Hall MNMS
Due to construction at Oak Hall Park, Summer Food Service will take place at Mt Nittany Middle School this summer. -Groceries will be distributed at MNMS each Wednesday from June 17 to August 12 for children age 18 and younger. All families are welcome to participate, but families must register each week. The registration sign up is opened on Wednesday afternoons for the following week and fills very quickly. District families will receive a message on ParentSquare when the registration has been opened. Or, you can check here to see if the form is live.
Free and Reduced-price Meals
Free or reduced-price meals are available for families who apply and meet income eligibility guidelines. Learn more about eligibility guidelines and apply for help. Families with gross income of less than $4,957 per month are eligible for meal benefits. Families who are not approved for free or reduced-priced meals must maintain account balances to pay for their children's lunches. Please email the Food Service Office if your family is not approved for free or reduced meals but is experiencing financial hardship and needs help. Community donations may be available for you.
Additional Help
If you or anyone you know is experiencing financial hardships and need help with food for the family, please review FoodFinder.us, a nonprofit website and app (for iOS or Android) that offers the location and contact information of more than 40,000 food pantries and similar food programs across the country. The FoodFinder website and app can be utilized to pinpoint local free food providers within the community. One such provider is the Food Bank of State College located at 169 Gerald Street, State College. Another tool to help find food resources is the Free Food Map developed by the Penn State School of Hospitality Management.
Families who do not qualify for free or reduced-price school meals but are nonetheless experiencing financial hardship should email the Food Service Department or call 814-231-5093. Community donated funds may be available to help.

The State College Area School District will assess a $35.00 fee for all checks returned by the bank.

The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation.
