Substitute Employment Opportunities

Application Process

Thank you for your interest in substitute employment opportunities with the State College Area School District. This is an excellent school system in which to work, and we are actively seeking outstanding people to join our support staff. We have substitute positions for teachers, paraprofessionals, custodians, bus drivers, nurses, and food service.

If you would like to apply to be a substitute teacher but do not hold a teaching certificate, you can apply for a day-to-day emergency permit if you hold a Bachelor’s Degree.

To apply, please visit our Job Openings page.

If you are not currently employed by the District, you will need current clearances (FBI, State, and Child Abuse).  Clearances are considered current if they are less than five years old. You also need a certificate of completion for the Mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training. You can register and complete your training via the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Resource Center.
