Welcome to Kindergarten!
This is my 10th year in Kindergarten at Radio Park. I have been a part of the Radio Park Community for the past 17 years as I followed my own children through their elementary years right here! Radio Park was such a special place for all of my children and I am confident that it will be for your family as well! I am a resident of Park Hills and my husband, Mark, and I have 4 children. Our oldest son, Luke, loves to read and explore the great outdoors. He is a PSU student. Our second son, Jonnie, is also at Penn State. He discovered a love for science and healthcare while at SCASD and is a Biobehavioral Health major. Our daughter, Anna, is now a senior at State High. You may have seen her lifeguarding or teaching swim lessons throughout the summer months. Our youngest son, Leo, will be a 7th grader at Park Forest Middle School this year! He loves sports and has a true passion for the water! He an avid swimmer and is hoping to play basketball on the Middle School team this year.As a family, we had a wonderful and busy summer filled with some camping, biking, hiking and visits with family! We spent a lot of time in or near the water, but stayed local. We enjoyed 2 weeks at the lake, took a trip to the extraordinary waterfalls of Ricketts Glen and enjoyed the summer warmth and sun at SPRA pool. We are long-time members and fans of SPRA pool and it is always a favorite pastime for us.Fall is a great time of year! Going back to school is always a fresh start and something to get excited about. I also love the wonderful autumn colors and getting back to a routine! I look forward to the many adventures that await as I meet my new class! I am working hard to organize and create a safe learning space as all classroom procedures will need to be quite different this year. I am anxious to welcome your child into our kindergarten family and I look forward to making it a great experence for them amid so many new regulations.
My educational experience includes a BA in elementary education from St. Vincent College and a MEd from St. Francis University where I focused on early reading instruction. I am so happy to be a part of the Radio Park faculty and proud to work alongside many fine teachers who have been inspirational and dedicated to teaching my own kids. My previous full-time teaching assignment was outside this district. I taught 1st grade for 7 years 1990-1997. From 1997- 2008, I spent time at home experiencing and learning in ways that only parenthood can teach! After a brief period of guest teaching in SCASD, I came back full-time in 2011. Welcome to Radio Park!
Feel free to contact me at mxg26@scasd.org if you have questions. I check my email daily and will get back to you.
