    Biography 

    Appointed as Director of Choirs at State College Area High School in 2015, Erik Clayton received his undergraduate degrees in Bachelor of Science in Music Education (Choral Emphasis), Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, and his Master of Music in Piano Performance from Penn State University.  During his time at Penn State he studied conducting with Dr. Lynn Drafall, Dr. Christopher Kiver and Maestro Gerardo Edelstein.  From 2008-2012 Mr. Clayton was Co-Director of Choirs at Williamsport Area High School.  From 2011-2012 he served as Artistic Director and Conductor of the Williamsport Chamber Choir and Orchestra, and appeared as a Guest Conductor with the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra.  From 2012-2015 Mr. Clayton served as Director of Choirs at Central Dauphin High School.  He currently resides in State College with his wife Rebecca and their four children.

    Choirs under the direction of Mr. Clayton have performed at the All-State Conference for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, the Pennsylvania Governor's Residence and the White House.  Additionally, the State College High School Master Singers have been invited to collaborate in performances with the Pennsylvania State University Concert Choir (Maurice Durufle's Requiem), the Altoona Symphony (Carl Orff's Carmina Burana), and the State College Choral Society (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem).  In the spring of 2019, the Master Singers will again appear with the State College Choral Society in a performance of Felix Mendelssohn's immortal masterwork Elijah.
