    Welcome to 2019-20's Intramurals page!

The first activity of 2020 is skiing. Ferguson skis on Mondays and the dates are as follows: January 6th,13th, 27th, February 3rd and 10th and 17th. If school is cancelled or there is an early dismissal on a Monday, then there will be NO skiing. In the event of a cancellation, the unused passes may still be used at Tussey at a time of your choosing - but after the 6 scheduled dates, transportation to Tussey must be provided by a parent or guardian. Please check with Tussey to make sure of dates and times. There will be an overlap of dates with volleyball because that sport begins to practice on January 27th. That will only be an issue if you have a 5th grader that wants to participate in the tournament because of mandatory attendance to practices. Please reach out to me at dhr11@scasd.org with questions about that.

Volleyball practice for 4th grade ONLY will be in January and those dates are January 27th and 29th.

Volleyball for the 5th graders begins in February and the dates for that are February 3rd, 5th, 10th, 12th, 17th (Which is also a snow make-up day so double-check about that with the coaches or coordinator), 19th, 24th, 26th and March 4th and 16th.  The tournament is the 17th, 18th and 19th.

The permission slip for this sport will be coming home on January 10th, please fill it out and return it as soon as possible.

As the dates are determined for the rest of the sports, this page will contain that information.  Skiing will happen in January, volleyball comes after that and, finally, in the late spring will be track season.  Each sport will have permission slips and letters explaining the details for each sport so please hang onto those letters when they come home. I am looking forward to getting to know your children and I hope they are looking forward to having a great time at intramurals this year!  If you have any questions, feel free to email me at dhr11@scasd.org.

    Welcome!

Intramural sports are available for all fourth and fifth graders at Ferguson.  We offer these as after school activities to enrich the students' athletic experience.  Intramurals take place AT Ferguson, unless otherwise stated in the letters that go home with permission slips before each activity.

Intramural activities in our district provide opportunities for competition and recreational physical activities at the elementary level. Intramural activities are conducted within our school district and do not involve events with other school districts. No physical is needed and there is no cost unless otherwise noted.

Intramural activities usually run from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm. Students MUST be picked up by 4:30 pm, or they may walk or ride a bike home with written permission. Participation is optional for each season.  Behavior expectations are high, and teamwork and sportsmanship are emphasized.

As part of the district athletics program, we adopt the same core mission:

    VISION STATEMENT

To positively impact the lives of others,

we will develop and support a premier athletic program

built on a tradition of integrity and excellence,

upholding high academic, social, and athletic standards

    POSITIVE PERFORMANCE PATHWAY

Know and do the right thing

    Do it with relentless effort

Do it with compassion and care for others

Seasons: We offer the following intramural choices throughout the year:

    Fall

    • Bowling

    Winter

    • Skiing & Snowboarding - at Tussey Mountain; fees apply

    • Volleyball - 5th graders participate in tournament

    Spring

    • Swimming - at high school natatorium

    • Track & Field - 4th & 5th graders will compete in district track meet

    Expectations:

    • Participation forms must be handed in for each sport prior to joining that intramural offering. See your IM coordinator for forms when necessary.

    • Students need to be picked up promptly at the end of practice. Repeated failure to do so may make the student ineligible for participation.

    • Participation in the State College Elementary Intramural Program is a privilege.  Students are expected to respect the rights of others and follow the instructions/rules of the Instructors/Coaches for their safety and that of the other children. If a child fails to behave properly,

      • First offense: a written notice must go home for a Parent or Guardian signature.

      • Second offense: suspension from all Intramural activities offered in that season.

    • IM Sessions may need to be cancelled on some occasions due to weather or scheduling conflicts. We will attempt to contact you as soon as we are aware of the cancellation.
