Hi everyone, my name is Chris Lutz, and I am thrilled to be back at Gray's Woods Elementary teaching 3rd grade this year!

I am a recent graduate from Penn State University's Professional Development School program in 2017. Including my intern year in Mrs. Kauffman's classroom, this will be my fourth year at Gray's Woods Elementary. I believe in cultivating a whole school community in addition to our own classroom. With that said, I am looking forward to collaborating with a lot of different teachers for activities. In the past, I have worked with Mr. Petersen and Mrs. Jeffries for some STEM activity extensions, and I'm anticipating, even more, this year.

I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA, and have lived in State College ever since I graduated from Penn State. I absolutely love the State College area and have adopted it as my home away from home - Gray's Woods especially! In addition to teaching, I have a passion for playing, watching, and coaching ice hockey. I enjoy outdoor activities such as rock climbing and whitewater rafting. During the summer I have worked with students with visual impairments in a summer program hosted by Penn State. I am a HUGE Pittsburgh Penguins and Penn State hockey fan! Currently, I am working with the 12U Icers team. You may also recognize me from coaching intramural sports at Gray's Woods with the 4th and 5th-grade students. If you see me outside of school, don't hesitate to say hi! I'm always up for a conversation.

Finally, I pride myself on being as responsive as possible to the needs and interests of the class. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to contact me by email at cjl26@scasd.org. I'm looking forward to having an amazing year with all of your students. :)

    Sincerely,

    Chris
