The Family and Community Engagement team consists of our Home School Visitor and three Licensed School Social Workers. These positions work closely with all lstudents and their families in developing and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships between members of the school district and outside agencies. In addition, they provide connections to community resources in supporting a family's basic needs. Their work is focused on ensuring an optimal schooling opportunity while balancing the personal development of the student.

Meet Our Team
Home and School Visitor -
Mrs. Cindy Sergeon-Smith joined the district in 2015 as the Home and School Visitor. Prior to coming to SCASD she spent 9 years providing direct in-home services to at-risk families and foster care students, as well as 9 years as an elementary school counselor.
Cindy obtained her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Glenville State College in WV and later went on to receive her Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Marshall University in WV.
Cindy is compassionate about helping others to achieve their personal and family goals. Beyond her professional experience, Cindy values spending time with her husband and 3 children and loves to visit the beautiful “wild and wonderful” WV hills.

District-Wide School Social Worker -
Morgan received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice at Lycoming College in 2017. In 2019, Morgan graduated from Shippensburg University with a Masters in Social Work and proceeded to get her Pennsylvania license in Social Work. In 2023, Morgan became a certified School Social Worker through PDE.
She is extremely passionate about helping others and enjoys seeing the progress a person can make with community support. Morgan finds school social work rewarding and believes it continues to open her heart and mind to how she can learn, improve and GROW as an individual.

RIT Social Worker -
Jessica received her Bachelor's degree in Criminology with a Minor in Sociology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 2011. She then went on to obtain her Masters in Social Work in 2019 from Walden University. She has worked with numerous populations, including psychiatric care, outpatient therapy and the correctional system. She is passionate about reentry and recidivism and these are areas where she continues to want to pursue long term.
She is warm, caring and believes in the power of building connections with people to help them achieve their goals. She believes there is great value working with young people, and helping them to realize their full potential while helping them to navigate the challenges they may face along the way.
