Security Service Provider: Standing Stone, Inc.
Standing Stone, Inc. currently provides up to eight security officers at the high school, one officer for each middle school, and support for sporting and other district events as scheduled by the district. The contract with the district allows the number of officers to change based upon need. These security officers wearing red shirts with company security logos (readily identifiable) are supervised by building administration and the school safety and security director; however, school resource officers provide guidance and suggestions for these individuals.
The primary daily duties of Standing Stone personnel include:

Managing building entry and exits at controlled access points

Pedestrian crossing assistance at the high school’s Westerly Parkway intersection before and after school

Escorting visitors and students throughout the building

Crowd monitoring in large spaces, such as the cafeteria and the CEGL
-
Consistent visible adult uniformed presence

General security walkthroughs of the building, including hallways and checking restrooms
Standing Stone personnel are not involved in student discipline. Administrators are solely responsible for enforcing violations of the student handbook.
Before the school year starts, security officers receive in-service training. The intent is to clarify the position’s responsibilities and approaches, with an emphasis on age-appropriate expectations at the different school levels.
Standing Stone personnel go through a wide variety of training before and during their service in SCASD buildings. This training meets and exceeds the mandated requirements of Act 67. In addition to the training provided by Standing Stone, our administrative team and our SRO officers provide additional training about school procedures and safety.
Standing Stone is an approved provider and assessor of Safe Schools in the Commonwealth and all officer certificates are on file with the school district. Every Standing Stone employee must complete a 5-day, 40-hour, school security officers (SSO) training before being placed in any SCASD building. The training includes:

First aid,CPR, including the AED automatic electronic defibrillator.

“Stop the bleed,” training dealing with the care for victims of extreme violence such as shootings or stabbings.

Act 31 mandated reporter (Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting) provided by the University of Pittsburgh.
