  •  Jason Nickal Boys Wrestling Coach

    New State High Boys Wrestling Coach

    The Board of Directors has approved Jason Nickal, who has six state team championship titles and 11 Coach of the Year awards, to be State High’s head coach. Having previously been the Little Lions’ assistant coach, Nickal will succeed Ryan Cummins, who resigned after 11 seasons.

    State High Thespians Win Isaac Awards

    The State College Area High School Thespians brought home four recognitions from the 19th annual Isaac Awards at Mishler Theatre in Altoona. The Isaac Awards honor student musical theater performers and crew members from 20 schools in a six-county area.

    State High World Languages Department Honor

    The department received a Silver Globe Award from the PA State Modern Languages Association (PSMLA) Exemplary Program Awards. “I appreciate the work that Amanda Showers did to submit all of the necessary data to be considered for the award,” French teacher Michelle Regel said.

    PA Teacher of the Year Semifinalist

    Colleagues and students have long known that Park Forest Middle School teacher Andy Cunningham is a standout educator. Now, they have further proof. Cunningham, who teaches the eighth-grade academic literacy course, was a semifinalist for the 2025 PA Teacher of the Year award.
