Roots of Life Performing Arts Ensemble
For ten years, as part of the State College Area School District’s Learning Enrichment Program, and currently as a part of SCASD's Office of Equity and Inclusivity, Roots of Life has delivered such mesmerizing displays of entertainment and enlightenment. Roots of Life sets a foundation and encourages a love of dance in students from elementary to high school. Students come together to learn the history and choreography of West African dance and drumming.
Roots of Life meets and rehearses during the school year on Saturdays and has been invited to perform all over Centre County including Penn State's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's Banquet, a ceremony held at the State College Area Downtown MLK plaza to commeorate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, D.C., and many, many more.
Roots of Life was founded by Dr. Kikora Franklin, Penn State Associate Professor of Theatre and Dance and Ms. Debra Daggs, a Mount Nittany Middle School Giftted Support and Learning Enrichment teacher.
If you or your child are interested in auditioning to be a part of Roots of Life, please contact Ms. Debra Daggs at firstname.lastname@example.org.
