    Jesse Myers wins PIAA Track & Field Gold

    State High sophomore Jesse Myers won gold in the 200 meters at the PIAA Track and Field State Championships. Jesse’s time of 21.23 broke his own school record he set earlier this year. Additionally, Jesse placed second in the 400 meters (47.81) and fourth in the 100 meters (10.78).

    State High Art Club/National Art Honor Society members unveiled a vivid outdoor amphitheater mural titled “Unity in Diversity,” celebrating students’ backgrounds, heritages and cultures and inspired by this year's school theme, “Unity is Key in 2023.”

    Meet our New Assistant Superintendent

    On May 15, the Board of Directors approved Jonathan Bucher to be the new assistant superintendent for secondary education. Bucher comes from the East Pennsboro Area School District, where he has been the High School’s principal since 2017. He brings 19 years of experience to the role.

    Running into the History Books

    Sophomore Jesse Myers has had a spring to remember so far, setting track and field school records in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter races. Even more astounding, he established the three marks within 48 hours. His trio of record-breaking runs has propelled him into elite company.

    Students Abuzz with Pollinator Garden Success

    Recently, Spring Creek Elementary dedicated its first pollinator garden. A schoolwide effort assisted by Penn State master gardeners and other volunteers, the garden joins similar oases for bees, caterpillars and butterflies at the district’s seven other elementary schools.

    Singing the Praises of State High Music Students

    At the WorldStrides Heritage Adjudication Festival, the State High Jazz Band, Master Singers and Symphonic Band earned first-place gold ratings for their performances. “Our students were very proud of their performances and awards,” State High Director of Choirs Erik Clayton said.
