On May 18, 2023, State High students Liberty Peachey and Adam Lieb, along with teacher Doug Schunk, joined our school resource officer, John Aston, to participate in the PA Special Olympics Torch Run on the event’s final leg. Starting in Pittsburgh, the event raises money for the annual PA Special Olympics, which will be held in June. Thank you to State High Principal Laura Tobias and State College Police Chief John Gardner for sponsoring the SCASD participants.
The SCASD representatives joined Centre County law enforcement officers for the final leg of the event, which went from the Valley Vista Sheetz to the Nittany Lion Shrine on the Penn State campus. During the run, participants were led by 14 police motorcycles and a motorcade that blocked and detoured traffic during the route.
