On Monday, Oct. 5, during a special meeting, the State College Area District Board of Directors will vote on granting permission to open bids for the State High Project.
Board members will receive a district administration recommendation to give the green light to bid. After the Sept. 28 Board meeting, when Massaro Construction Management Services presented its final cost estimate, the project team continued to assess the bid documents. During the week, MCMS and the district administration collectively reviewed the documents and estimates, and on Oct. 1, the entire project team (MCMS and architects Crabtree Rohrbaugh and Associates, each of whom prepared separate estimates) met to address the concerns and questions discussed during the review.
At the meeting, the project team resolved outstanding issues, leading to a joint recommendation from MCMS and the district administration to release the State High Project bid documents.
As a result, the project will be publicly advertised with Nov. 5 the bid opening date. The administration and the Board will review the bids on Nov. 9, with an approval vote expected at a special meeting Nov. 16.
On Oct. 8, there will be a pre-bid meeting for the project team to review the project and receive questions from prospective bidders.
