After rising through the ranks of State College Area School District’s IT Services Department, Justin Hetrick now sits at the top, ready to lead his colleagues.
Hetrick, who has been with the district since 2013, recently was named the new director of technology. He started as an IT support specialist before becoming the IT support manager overseeing assistance for students, parents, faculty and staff.
“I am extremely excited to continue working with IT Services in this new role as we strive to fulfill the district's technological vision and push what's possible for students' and teachers' with EdTech,” he said. “I'm proud to be a member of this IT Team and district and look forward to continuing to work with everyone.”
A Penn State graduate, Hetrick holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and Technology, He went on to earn a master’s degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University. Currently, he is pursuing his Certified Information Systems Security Professional Certification to add to his several IT certifications.
In his free time, Hetrick enjoys being with his wife and family, watching football, hunting, and spending time outdoors. As he embarks on the next chapter of his career, he continues to draw on the advice of actress Amy Poehler:
