Middle Schools Shine in Technology Bowl
A trio of Mount Nittany Middle School students bowled the field over at the Technology Student Association’s Region 8 competition on Feb. 1.
Josh Carlson, Vlad Roiban and Josh Wang teamed to win the Technology Bowl Challenge, highlighting a strong showing from the Mount Nittany and Park Forest Middle School teams. Nearly 550 students from 28 TSA chapters in Region 8, the state’s largest, competed at Northern Cambria Middle School.
In the Tech Bowl, teams first complete a written test demonstrating their knowledge of TSA and technology concepts. Semifinalists answer questions in head-to-head competitions.
Two of Mount Nittany’s team members also won additional categories. Roiban partnered with Trevor Martin for first place in Coding, and Wang took first in Delta Dart. Mount Nittany’s other first place came from Evan Repine in PA Logo Design.
Park Forest’s Isabelle McSweeney topped the Prepared Speech field.

Also competing for Mount Nittany were Violet Doyle, Lewis Gipe, Madison Martin, Cade Millinovich, Levi Nicholas, Kian Oziemblowsky, Allie Peters, Lydia Roberts and Jonathan Sheaffer.
Also competing for Park Forest were Wyatt Angelli, Eli Barabas, Kevin Burns, Graham Hallquist, Aaron Le, Aidan Le, Ian Lei, Leo Ling, James Lukehart, Elliot Matthews, Justin Wallace, Leo Wang, Margo Wyckoff and Chase Zhou.
