Attendees: We had a great attendance for the 1st PTO meeting! 25 individuals. We hope to keep this up! We welcome the participation!

Next Meeting: October 12, 2015 Radio Park Library

OLD BUSINESS

Kindergarten Ice Cream Social (August 25th 6pm – 7:30pm)

Event went very well and was a success! Thank you all who attended, and those who volunteered!

Free Library & Read-a-THON (October)

Get kids excited about reading! Mr. Wynkoop working on creating a read-a-THON event in October which will align nicely with the fall book fair. Looking to set this up for the community in observance of Literacy for the Community Campaign. Attendees at meeting were in support of this new initiative. This event can help raise funds through literacy for children in need during the holidays. It can also help support the author/illustrator program.

School Supplies

School supplies have been purchased and under budget!

First Day Tagging

Talks about revisiting this event. Possibly eliminating the need for a first day tagging. It may be easier to send tags (differentiated by color by grade) during the month of August before the first day of school so parents can tag their kids ahead of time with the correct bus number and class. This will be similar to how they tag Kindergarten students ahead of time.

Shade Tree Project – Opportunity to help shade the playground by planting some trees. Some ideas that were shared were offering this as a 5th grade class gift and possibly through Kindergarten as well. Provides a chance for students to leave some history behind and also gradually help shade the playground. Currently there is not much shade on the playground so these trees can help beautify the playground while providing shade for our children.

·         Julie Coughlin and Kristi Brawley have volunteered to help chair this project.
