Joe Dionsio

As an adult, Joe Dionisio, has been a successful healthcare consultant and administrator, an acclaimed teacher, and a recognized supporter of the arts. 

After his graduation from State High, where he lettered in football, Joe enrolled in Point Park College in Pittsburgh and, starting in 1970, was also a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard, serving until his honorable discharge in 1976. 

In June 1969, after graduating with honors, he joined Price Waterhouse & Co. as a staff accountant, becoming a CPA in 1971, and then, in 1981, he was chosen as a Partner in the firm, one of the youngest to do so at Price Waterhouse.

From 1982 to 1989, he served Price Waterhouse with the title of Regional Healthcare Partner. He then served Allegheny Health System in Pittsburgh until leaving in 1999. In 2001, Joe joined CareGroup, Inc., the second largest healthcare system in Massachusetts based at Harvard Medical Center, as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. The following year, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of New England Baptist Hospital, a CareGroup affiliate.

In 2008, he and his wife, Lois, retired to a  farm on the outskirts of State College, which had been his grandparent’s farm. It became a family “homestead,” where he hosts many family and class of ‘65 reunions.

Shortly after returning to State College, Joe was invited to join the Healthcare Policy and Administration faculty at Penn State as Professor of Practice in the Graduate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, along with serving as Director of External Relations and Professional Development. In recognition of his work, he has received three Excellence in  Teaching awards.

Joe has also served as trustee for Point Park College, Pittsburgh Opera Company, Gargaro Musical Productions, and Harvard Medical Center affiliated entities in Boston.
