2007 Distinguished Alumnus - Daniel R. Hawbaker (Click here for profile)

Dan is graduate in the class of 1957, which was the last class to graduate from the Fairmont Avenue High School. After graduation, he continued to work in the family construction business while attending Penn State. In 1958 he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as a paratrooper. In 1966 with a degree from the University of Maryland School of Business and Public Administration, he returned to the family construction business in

State College. Over the years Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. has grown, expanding across Pennsylvania in heavy construction, including asphalt plants and aggregate crushing operations

Within the community, Dan has worked with various charitable, civic, and volunteer groups to support efforts to expand local resources and services in a growing community. His efforts include work with the Boy Scouts, community conservation groups, Mt. Nittany Medical Center, YMCA fund raising, and leading the fund raising and construction of the Schlow Centre Region Library.

Dan has served as president and board member in various Pennsylvania contractor associations. He also served in an advisory capacity to the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and is currently a Board member of M&T Bank. Dan is active in various commercial, industrial, and residential developments in Centre County, along with economic development in the Centre Region.

Dan and his wife, Suzie, have continued with the family construction operations and community interests, along with sons, Michael, Patrick and Roger.
