Family Outreach Materials (Updating soon!!)
The Mt. Nittany Library is home to a collection of helpful parenting resources. Videos, books, and games are available for check out to MNE families. Call the library (272-3812) between 8:30-11:30 or 12:30-2:45 to request the materials or email us at mnelib@scasd.org. A complete listing of all the materials in the collection is available in the library.
The popular videos include: "No, I Won't! and You Can't Make Me!", "Homework? I'll Do It Later," and "Catch Them Being Good, Happier Kids, Happier Parents Through Effective Praise." Recent video additions include "Keeping Peace At Home," "Help Your Child Succeed In School," and "Good Discipline, Good Kids."
Central Family Outreach Library
The Central Family Outreach Library ha additional materials that can be borrowed by calling 231-1070. These items can be sent to the Panorama library through interoffice mail.This library of parenting materials has been developed by Connie Schulz, the State College Area School District Family Outreach Specialist. Kids, Parents and Power Struggles, a book by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka that shows how to manage conflicts better by helping kids to become more aware of their emotions.
How to Behave So Your Children Will, Too, a book by Sal Severe that shows you how to teach your child to behave, how to be consistent and manage your anger.
The Single Father: A Dad's Guide to Parenting Without a Partner.
Video additions include "Skills for Single Parents," "Raising Responsible Children" which shows five steps for helping children manage self care, chores, and homework; and "Your Child's Friendships: Good Times, Bad Times" which focuses on helping kids age 6-11 improve their social skills.
