PTSO Meeting Minutes
February 5, 2019
Attending: Meg Relkin, Joanie Tan, Erica Mi, Ethan Humm, Jenna Zhang, Lisa Kopp, Ann Limegrover, Megan McDaniel, Rina Kumar, Ron Leynes, Curtis Johnson
Megan McDaniel (President) called the meeting to order at 7:03pm
Minutes from the January 8, 2019 were reviewed and approved.
Treasurer’s Report- Lisa Kopp (Treasurer) As of February 5, 2019 the current bank balance is $4431.61. The current Paypal Account is $4855.03. Deposits this month were received through curriculum night ($42 donations) and recurring PayPal ($35). Expenses noted $51.52 online order for school tissues. It was agreed that the PTSO will purchase 2 more cases of tissues with the continued need.
Megan McDaniel moved to approve the current budget. Ann Limegrover seconded the motion and the budget was approved.
Old Business- One State Gala was postponed to Friday, April 5, 2019 due to weather. All candy received from the Sign-Up Genius is begin stored until the April event.
Curriculum Night on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 had a good turnout. The PTSO had a table and provided bottled water and chocolate chip cookies. Did have extra cookies and water so it was suggested lesser quantities. All extra cookies and water were sent to teacher/staff lounge.
New Business- Waiting for final date but Teacher/Staff breakfast being planned for sometime in March.
The need for tissues continue. The PTSO will purchase more tissues for the school as noted in today’s budget review.
Megan McDaniel is waiting to hear if the PTSO will be brought under an “umbrella organization” formed through the District. Randy Brown continues to be our main contact.
All teachers and staff were reminded of available PTSO mini-grants.
Matt Quinn (student) from the IT Entrepreneurship Class requested the PTSO sponsor a chicken lunch on one of the last two days of school. Megan McDaniel reported she spoke with Chris Pechtold (teacher advisor) for Matt to formally present his proposal at the next PTSO meeting for review.
Erica Mi, Jenna Zhang, and Ethan Humm (students) from the Technology Student Association (TSA) presented a powerpoint overview for a mini-grant request. The organization’s State Conference event is scheduled for April 10-13, 2019 at Seven Springs Resort, PA. Cost for an individual student to attend is $400 which includes registration, transportation and lodging. Many student members are having trouble covering this cost and the group is asking the PTSO for a $1000 grant ($500 per State High Chapter). The PTSO reviewed their request and opted to vote on a final decision at the next meeting in March. This would allow the student organization time for planned fundraising and possibly lower individual costs.
