  • What is the Virtual Academy?

    The State College Virtual Academy is the State College Area School District's comprehensive cyber school option. The Virtual Academy provides your student with all the benefits and opportunities of being a member of the State College Area School District and the flexibility to create a learning schedule that meets their needs.

    The Virtual Academy serves Kindergarten through 12th grade. The academy is divided into two programs: elementrary (K-5), and secondary (6-12). Please use the links below to learn more about how the program is structured, what you can expect, and the online provider:

    Benefits of SCASD Virtual Academy

    Courses are facilitated by a SCASD teacher to provide feedback and answer questions as your student works through courses at their own pace and at a time and place that suits them.

    All Virtual Academy students graduate with their class and receive a State College diploma. As members of the district they have access to the activities and services of their assigned home building including:

    • clubs
    • sports 
    • dances
    • libraries
    • free tutoring services:
    • Math Center (high school)

  • ARTsmART Provides Enhanced Opportunities

    Retiring teacher Jill Campbell is leaving behind an impressive legacy: the ARTsmART program she founded for artistically-minded students. ARTsmART is part of SCASD's learning enrichment program, which is dedicated to enhancing academic opportunities.

  • State High Military Wall of Honor

    The emerging Military Wall of Honor overlooks the student hub a story below, gracing an elevated walkway for all to see. Each branch’s flag hangs above a respective plaque bearing metal tags with the names and classes of service members or veterans who went to State High.

  • Helping Hands Food Pantry

    Inside the district’s Panorama Village Administrative Center, the new Helping Hands Pantry fills a room with shelves of packaged and canned goods as well as personal hygiene items and household cleaning supplies — all readily available for SCASD students.

  • New K-12 Family Liaison/Bilingual Educator

    Alix Croswell has combined her linguistic ability, bilingual education experience and altruistic nature to connect students and parents with limited English proficiency to their schools and community resources.

  • Perfect Advanced Placement Exam Scores

    Nobody’s perfect in life, but as State High students Angela Abraham and Lorenzo Frepoli showed, Advanced Placement exams can be a different matter. Recently, they achieved a rare feat — perfect AP exams with every possible point earned, placing them in elite company.

21/22 Course Requests

  • 21/22 School Year Course Requests

    Course Requests are now being accepted for secondary (6-12) students planning to attend Virtual Academy for the 21/22 school year. Only the student can submit the request. Once you have made your requests you will receive a receipt of your selections - should you decide you want to make any changes once you have submitted your requests you may go back in and edit your responses.
